About Blackboard
A startup lab
with a long view.
We build products, explore new ideas, and share the tools and approach we use to turn them into businesses.
The approach
Build the company.
Build what it needs.
Building a startup means making things that don’t exist yet. Sometimes that’s the product. Sometimes it’s the tools you need to build it well.
At Blackboard, those two kinds of work feed each other. Dash, Electrobun, and our open-source libraries are part of the foundation we use to build. They’re also things other people can pick up and make their own work with.
We care about staying lean, moving quickly, and doing the deeper engineering that makes better products possible. The ambition extends beyond any one tool or company.
A self-taught engineer. More than two decades across eleven startups. A ten-year vision for what comes next.
Yoav has worked as a founder, CTO, engineering manager, and principal engineer, building and scaling products used by millions.
He spent seven years at Webflow, joining when the team had twelve people. As a tech lead and architect, he worked on the Rich Text Editor, Multiplayer, Asset Manager, Responsive Images, and data integrity and migration systems as the company grew.
Mentoring people across disciplines has been a constant throughout that work. Now, he’s self-funding Blackboard with a long view: build ambitious products, develop the tools they need, and help other builders go further.
